LXQt is relatively a new desktop environment written with Qt libraries, It was formerly called Razor-Qt but it merged with the project LXDE Qt and changed its name, It aims to provide a fast desktop environment, light and written with Qt library to be a good alternative for KDE on devices that are not possess Specifications strong .
Nowadays the version 0.7 was released, I downloaded it for testing it on Ubuntu 14.04 and it has worked smoothly , when you enter into the environment for the first time, it will ask for the window manager you want to use, as it allows you to use any window manager you want like Kwin or Xfwm4 or others.
LXQt is featured by its beauty and simplicity at the same time, the default desktop is very simple and customizable Qt aesthetics, as it is there are some custom attributes to the default environment you can use to get a perfect beauty :
Talking about the consumption of resources, it consumes 360 megabytes of random access memory (RAM) currently, not bad if you compare it with other desktop environments as Kde or Gnome Shell, for example:
This environment comes a set of tools that are available to be customized, such as a tool to change the location of the emergence of notices, change the background, modify the settings of the panel and the possibility of changing its place, change the appearance and icons feature is used, change the mouse cursor, modify default applications, changing the window manager .. and many others :
LXQt also comes with a file browser PCmanFM but this time written in Qt :
And a lot of other features .. its future seems promising, especially as it made all these features and is still in version 0.7 demo, and how the final version will become ? 🙂
Note : The interface is still experimental, you may encounter several problems, and may not work with you.
